[Imc-drupal-dev] [IMC-Tech] Knight Foundation Grant

Well, looking at the grant application, it appears like all the advice
we gave about -not- making it look like it represents global IMC, that
it's for a local & isolated project, the whole history of that type of
action, was COMPLETELY ignored.

This grant -literally- takes credit for the work of all the different
IMCs ("There are more than 165 autonomous multilingual IMCs around the
world.") and represents as if this grant is for the entire global
network when, in reality, it represents a small and local endeavor
which, as Occam writes, doesn't even begin to address what's needed out
of a new CMS for Indymedia. It appears to be intentionally written as if
it is submitted by Global IMC, -for- Global IMC and -for- the
imc-finance fund.

It would be one thing if you sent this grant without knowing. But you
-did- know. We explained to you about imc-finance, imc-cms, the history
of grant applications like this, etc. And, knowing all this, you guys
went ahead and submitted a grant application that represents itself as
Global IMC, without Global IMC's approval or knowledge.

I can only imagine that as more people find out, there will be outrage
expressed on these lists, outrage expressed to the Knight Foundation, etc.

I'm really disappointed. And I have to ask: did the grant-writing group
take into account -anything- that people have said? Because it certainly
doesn't seem like that.

This has been so far an Imc-Drupal initiative, but that does mean we don't take seriously the imc-cms group goals or reservations/concerns about this proposal. Not saying "drupal" could've implied that we had imc-cms or global consensus on this, which is obviously not the case.
