Very very very brief, highly specific response since we also suffer
greatly from lacking tech staff, CAMP (stcamp.org), a grassroots
radical community center in St. Louis, MO has a 501.c3 and is already
in the practice of provided fiscal sponsorship, should that be useful
to the current discussion.
That said, CAMP is badly understaffed, underfunded, and having extreme
difficultly pursuing its mission in the community. We host St. Louis
IMC, but we're really stretched thin and have no capacity to oversee
or facilitate any more groups seeking grants. We can nevertheless
offer fiscal sponsorship, provided the working group shows capacity
for accounting how the grant funds are allocated and spent.
There are likely other grassroots non-profits out there, eg. Rhizome
Collective in Austin, Texas, who could offer sponsorship to seek more
conventional grants.
