I guess a WYSIWYG-inclusion-in-core related patch would be interesting
to highlight, even though I have absolutely no idea which WYSIWYG-patch
is the hardest, most difficult, ... (and therefore would need the
spotlight the most). It's just that a lot of our users have been asking
for this for a long time (sound familiar?), since they see easy-to-use
WYSIWYG editors all over the web, "so why not in Drupal"? I have been
hesitant to enable one, because of all the options out there and not one
being an overall best editor, and the various problems admins are
getting into when they do enable one - but I should probably do some
more research on this. Nonetheless, having an editor in core would
definitely be cool.
Apart from that, I heard that work is being done to get CDN integration
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_Delivery_Network) into D7,
although I don't know if there's a patch for that yet. But CDN support
in core would make Drupal even more suitable for IMC sites.
