[Imc-drupal-dev] Knight Foundation Grant for Drupal IMC

hi there,
i am part of the austria indymedia collective. we've used dadaimc  a
couple of years, and finally switched to drupal 5 one and a half year
ago. we've made our old dada site available as static page with some
apache redirect rules, so links to our old dada site do not end in 404
errors. this archive is not searchable which is far away from perfect.
now that views2 is finally out we are thinking about migrating to
drupal6 and i read with huge interest about the dada2drupal migration
script which we will definitly give a try.
so in my opinion it's always a good thing to combine the effort of
multiple imc collectives rather than everyone starting from zero. so
if funding makes it possible that certain people/teams gain enough
time to coordinate and develope something like drupal for IMC's this
would be a great
another thing we're constantly facing problems is due the limitation
of our hardware. not that we would not be able to collect money for
server infrastructure. the problem is much more, that no one really
wants to be the person or group that signs the contract for a server
(remember data retention in european countries).
so if funding will happen some dedicated drupalIMC hardware with a
nice multisite installation for IMC'S that are part of the global
network in a "safe" country (if that even exists) would also be a
great progress.
