Hi, there's some info on 
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Devel/ImcDrupalDev although docs.indy is 
down at the moment, so check back later.  If you have some experience 
already building sites w/ drupal you should feel free to contribute to 
documentation on these pages.

Also you should hang out on irc.indymedia.org #drupal-dev

hopefully someone else has more specific suggestions :)  Some sites that 
have been recently discussed on this list might be able to use some 
help, like IMC boston and the alternatives project.
