Hi, not to be rude (but getting attention)...
I suppose still many are member of this list and there must be a
maintainer too, but the archives mention the last posts from August 2009.
Like to get this list start working again. My ideas are integrating all
specialism of all Drupal IMC developers to get to new standardized
international available IMC-Drupal downloadS. So now we have Alba and a
few others like Linksunten and upnext Brasil (+ many that haven´t publicly
documented like Madrid), but they seem more country projects than that
there is the international integration.
I´m working on a Drupal Alba with many more modules ( http://mi-cr.org
testsite) and like to integrate that with the best of the other installs.
Also like to have it be able to show up graphically exactly like MIR,
among many other possibilities. In a later stage removing unnecessary
modules and making basic, medium and extended imc-drupal lines.
And why??! Only for the Caribean and Central America there are near 50
states (some big islands) and onlyt less than a handfull real imc
indymedias, while those few existing indymedias sometimes run on horrible
software with errors. It will create a major boost for new developing
imc´s that lack the time and specialism, to be able to get to work quickly
with the best software there is.
(OK, I have personal reasons for my region; I like to fight the
Florida-Cocalombia power politics and that´s only possible by giving all
those countries and island countries the best imc software there is PLUS
integrating those local imc´s in an international news system)
But it´s too big to do this myself + lacking all the necessary technical
knowledge for the many aspects + input from many developers is needed to
get agreement on what is the best to combine for lets say 3 different new
internationally standardized imc-drupal installs.
Actually I don´t want to do this myself, but work together in a group
where everyone has a bit of its own free specialism and work to get to
these international group goals.
I seriously doubt if the list system is the way to organise such a proyect
and perfectionizing the communication. I´m more thinking of something like
a drupal "imc-drupal" group installed on indymedia.org with one or a few
forums and (optional) maillists added to them + by members editable wikis
of the information.
Feedback with your thoughts on this very welcome...
Thanks, Ali
