[Imc-dunedin] McDonald's picket this Friday at noon

I hope people don't mind this going out on the
indymedia list, but i thought it might interest some.

The Autonomous Workers' Union is picketing George St
McDonalds this Friday Sep 24 at 12 O'Clock. 

The picket is a protest against the terrible
conditions that teenage workers face at McDonald's. I
can't go into details, which are confidential at this
stage, but management at McD treat workers very poorly
indeed. 

The plan is to have a customer/child friendly
presence. There is an idea to give away balloons to
kids. 

The basic angle we will be taking is to support the
teenage workers in McDs and call for the sacking of
the boss...ie. to get McDs to withdraw Peter Shepherds
franchise (Shepherd has the franchise to all three
McD's in Dunedin).

Plans are to continue the picket on Saturday and
Monday.
