Me too ...but we're all ding dongs! I checked with Sue, too: it seems that all three of us forgot that we wrote this together just as the helicopter bearing Arafat's remains was landing and several hundred thousands of people assembled on a moment's notice to start the funeral.

When global indy's editorial team slapped us in the face by refusing to publish it, I remember the collective insult and frustration we had experienced was so bitter that we started talking (once again) in terms of "what the hell are we doing in alliance with some of these people?" I'm aware that it's a question that keeps coming back among us.

Anyway, I guess we all buried the memory of that painful embarrassment, and forgot about the article. I unearthed it after my memory was prompted by the renewed allegations coming out in the Press again about Yasser Arafat having been poisoned.

All the "official" media are now accepting that there was no real cause of death established, and speaking as if "they knew it all along". 

But at the time, four years ago, they downplayed the scientific findings and ridiculed the Palestinian and foreign doctors and politicians who were publicizing this aspect of the case and speaking out about it. The establishment media portrayed them in the most insulting and dehumanizing ways (even their photos and video images were chosen to be in bad light, weird angles, etc), presenting them as squabling, scheeming, infighting petty little ambulance-chasers. In this way, illegitimate authorities were successful in hiding the political importance of the scientific fact named "cause of death unknown", in order to achieve a political and military goal.

The connection between the US-based Corporate media, on the one hand, and the Mossad-CIA monster on the other, is well known among many activists within the US (and documented to a large extent). It's also understood instinctually by millions around the world. I think that the way this particular fact was treated at the time is an excellent example of their co-operation in their common cause.

The political ramifications of the possibility of Arafat being poisoned (or killed by any other stealthy method) would have been unthinkable at the time. Now things are different, given the extremely deep division among the ranks of Palestinian leadership. But at the time, there was a unity of sorts among the leadership and among the people, forged, personified and embodied by Yasser Arafat.

Every military and political leader knows this thing - it has been taught in schools, academies, private tutoring, colleges and universities of military and political affairs for at least three thousand years: unless you want the conflict to degenerate into barbarism, you do NOT kill the opposing leader by stealth. 

If the opposing leader is killed in open and fair battle, that is one thing. But quite another to kill the opposing leadership by stealth. The reason is not morality (we're talking about war and politics ...morals? Hey).

The reason has to do with the three most immediate outcomes of a killing by stealth:
- whatever social, political or military order (unity) was embodied by the secretely assasinated leader is brought to collapse. This brings to the surface unknown factors, and the battle or war spreads by new independent forces into new dimensions, spreading without containment;
- immediately after an assassination by stealth there is no one credible left with whom to negotiate peace, surrender, truce, temporary ceasefires, or even a permanent end to hostilities (this is crucial);
- as soon as the fact of assassination by stealth is verified, this opens up the way for the leadership of your own forces to be killed in the same way, covertly. And then reprisals, and similar acts by new independent forces from your side against the enemy, which trigger an escalating avalanche of such acts by both sides.

The combination of these three outcomes is a guarantee that a downward spiral will ensue in which indiscriminate killing of anyone by any means is placed on the table and becomes the order of the day. And it takes place in the ABSENCE of any social mechanism that can negotiate a ceasefire or enforce order from within the social structures of either side. Barbarism.

Wars and battles are not fought in order to bring on barbarism, they are entered in order to achieve victories, specific gains, tangible goals. Even a defeat and a surrender is a goal that is always preferable by both the victors and the losers to a downward spiral into barbarism.

That is why every military and political leader is taught this during their training, and why some countries have laws prohibiting the assassination of foreign leaders.

But in the 20th and 21st century we are seeing for the first time in history large industrial and military forces led into war by leaders whose actions seem hellbent on bringing about not a victory, not a specific goal or even a favourable ceasefire, but to bring about a state of barbarism in which there is no social order and no moral value with which to maintain social function.

The alliance of Mossad with the US-based Corporate and State covert agencies who operate in the shadows have been knowingly and consciously violating this cardinal rule of how to conduct conflict for several decades now. The "profile value" of their targets keeps getting higher and higher. {The US Government has a well-documented list of failed assassination attempts carried out by its operators agains Fidel; Patrice Lumumba was not so lucky.} 

But getting the establishment Corporate and State media to collaborate with them in psychological operations against "their own" populations in order to hide the truth and prevent awareness of their actions, as they did during the time when the claims about Arafat's poisoning were surfacing, is a new development.

I do not claim to know what happened, of course, or whether Arafat was poisoned or not. What I'm saying is that his unexplainable death is connected to the fact that there's an increasing global trend whereby covert operations by very powerful invisible forces that are unaccountable to anyone are determining the path of world affairs, and determining the way that conflict is actualized by methods that go *against* the goals of any of the parties involved in the conflicts. 


Covert forces have been steadily rising in influence, operating behind the scenes within the global administration of the Corporate State structure of the Empire, becoming increasingly more and more its illegal arm, its shadow government, and its unofficial executive arm.

We have a word in the hellenic language for it: "parakratos". It refers to the organized force that wields state-like power and applies it in ways, procedures, methods and initiatives that lie outside the context of democratic institutions.

In the turkish language it is called "derin devlet": the deep state. The concept, as used in modern Turkey, includes covert elements of the State engaged in illegal operations alonside organized crime units, hate-based political organizations, private interests and unofficial corporate interests, all acting on their own agenda. 

In the US this force is loosely identified as the "secret shadow government".

The progressive Press (liberal and radical) in Greece, even the mainstream moderate Press, often use a term in the last few years that describes very clearly the emergence of this force on the global scale. The term is "global parakratos", something equivalent to "global deep state", or "global secret state apparatus". What they refer to is an Evil Axis of self-propagating covert action networks co-ordinated by elements of illegal and legal units of the local Israeli, UK and US "deep state" apparatus which are steadily becoming a global force.

Whatever the correct term might be, it refers to the fact that this has now become a transnational phenomenon, transcending the nation-state as we know it. Even though there is no global State (yet), there is an emerging global para-state, an extrajudicial force of operatives who are acting without any authorization from *any* one branch of *any* Government. There is no legislative, no judicial and no executive order empowering these forces - even if they derive partially from some branches of some nation-state's Government, their action on the global field of operations is a law unto itself: self-determined, self-defined, and self-justifying. 

These forces, after having "escaped" from the control of Corporate and State authority within their own nation-states, have graduated to the global scene and now they're getting settled in.

The events of September 11, 2001, and the wars and conflicts that have ensued since that time, were the graduation ceremony by which the global deep state has "moved up in the world".


The burning question is what can the global liberation forces put up against them to neutralize or minimize their effect?
