Introductionary Annotation:
For all who do not know what this thread is about: It is about
thoughts, ideas, suggestions etc. born in an before a chat on IRC last
tuesday. That day, some europeans discussed about a future system
which will allow easier reporting and translation for special events
and about a project to form this. If you are interested in this
discussion please take part in it. We are open to new people anytime.
The log of the chat is included with this email. In case it is
removed, it will be archived on docs.indymedia.org soon. Just follow
this thread on the email lists to find out where.
But now for the reply I originally wanted to give:
_____________________________________________________________________
Hi everybody!
I am so sorry for letting you down. I was really busy both today and
yesterday and was not at home most of the time and thus didn't make it
to send out the logs. Here they finally are, appended as raw text
(ASCII) log files. I have removed both personal reidentifyable
information such as IP adresses and host names as well as all unique
evidence for systems used. I also removed all extended character set
as used by MiRC to make the text more readable in plain text format.
All important channel technical information such as joins and parts is still
present. However I have not done any content related work yet. I hope
someone of you can do the summary (can you still do it, Ana?) as I am
unexpectedly still busy as hell.
Btw. if any of you who took part in the chat - for some particular
reason - need the full chat log, please send me a PM and I'll give it
to you.

yep. i'm sorry.

I'd say here ^^^^ but this is just a single vote.

Hmmm, hard to say. Looking at the second paragraph on
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/WebHome
it seems to me that adding the string "IMC" is optional. Some do, some
do not. I would prefer not to in our case as it is not related to an
(local) IMC but to the whole (global) network.
gnrn> there is already one document which explains dispatch briefly
gnrn> http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/DispatchTutorial
Yeah this was set up for Thessaloniki and relates to
http://dispatch.indymedia.it
gnrn> it's located on global - so my proposal is, to call the new page:
gnrn> -->> http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/DispatchWorkingGroup
gnrn> (this hold it open for global partcipation, also when it start with an "european
gnrn> discussion")
Seems we got the same idea. :)
As long as there is nobody saying anything else than this I suggest we
use this address.

gnrn> ((if i lost something in this list, please tell))
great list, this is going to be very helpful. thank you. some other
URLs are on the chat log and on the mailing list archive of
imc-europe. I guess I'll be able to collect them quite quickly once
the page is setup. Additionally I would like to list our e-mail
addresses there in non-machine-readable format like this:
alsterwassermann AT gmx D0T de (the "o" of "DOT" is a zero in fact) to
prevent spamming but be reachable for people interested in our work as
long as we do not run our own mailing list yet.
gnrn> # 3. how to get the documents for TWiki?
gnrn> you can send me the requested documents or urls. when we have set up the page,
gnrn> then you can add stuff be yourself.
Cool.
gnrn> # 4. if you have questions on TWiki?
gnrn> there were some questions on the use of twiki. if you
gnrn> don't know, u can have a look on http://docs.indymedia.org/ and try by aourself
gnrn> or u can send a short mail and i can reply with useful links or answer your
gnrn> questions briefly. we can also do a short irc for explanation.
When I took my first attempts with the wiki (during thessaloniki), I
used this to get to know the system:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/TWiki/WelcomeGuest
It was so much easier than I had expected and learning it took really
little time and brains. :) But there are other Tutorials and stuff, I
guess gnrn could tell much better than I could.
gnrn> # 5. when and where (channel) will the next dispatch meeting happen. we decided
gnrn> "in 2 weeks", but we didn't decide for a beginning time. should it be again at
gnrn> 8pm cet, or later - it started very late last time.
in fact, we changed the starting time to 9 p.m. in the very last
emails but some people didn't realize it as it was so late. Besides
that I, too, forgot about that reassignment. :)
I got the impression that 9 o'clock in the evening is better than 8
o'clock. But on the other hand, in case we start becoming
international we will have to move to the weekend for sure and
probably select a later european time (no earlier than midnight CET
for the americans to take part) as well. I propose we just wait a few
more days before we assign it and see wheter anybody non-european
would like to take part in it. Additionally we could already see if it
would be possible for us to carry out a meeting on a friday or
saturday night. To me this is generally possible, even at midnight.
gnrn> ok, i that's for now. if there is no other proposal, i will ste up the TWiki on:
gnrn> http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/DispatchWorkingGroup
gnrn> but this means, that we also create a dispatch working group? we like to do
gnrn> this? or is it not a working group? should we only form something like a guide
gnrn> or a DipatchHowTo?
gnrn> i wanted to add this, because i'm not sure if we decided to make it or to start
gnrn> first with a proposal to create a working group. but in this way, our work is a
gnrn> good start.
I think it *is* a working group as long as we work on it. ;)
Although I am short of time sometimes my heart is set on fire for this
project and I want the system to go live some day. In other words: If
my life doesn't change extremely and unexpectedly I will keep on with
this, taking little steps in some times, big steps in other times. If
we really want this thing to end up as something useful - and I'm
sure we all do want this - then let's say we're important enough to
call ourselves a Working Group!
gnrn> nice greetings from vienna
gnrn> do indymedia.
gnrn> participate your opinion
>From your other email:
gnrn> if we send the summary to the europe-list (we should, because it was also
gnrn> promoted there ->> the results of the meeting), we can also upload it at the
gnrn> twiki-page as .txt document. or we can do a documentation page, werre we collect

No more need now I hope.
Sorry again for disappointing you. I'll try not to promise anything I
can't keep and to keep my promises in the future.
All the best to all of you!
