hi michal, daniel in Slovakia,
i'm a volunteer in Indymedia Poland - Torun, and i noticed that
in April 2004, you seemed to have a bunch of people rather eager to
start an indymedia collective:

http://archives.lists.indymedia.org/new-imc/2004-April/005042.html

and i only saw a brief response from bart in imc west vlaanderen,
so i was wondering what happened...

i also noticed that the world's most wanted criminal is going to be
visiting you in just 4 weeks' time:

http://pl.indymedia.org/pl/2005/01/11396.shtml

so local activists could probably benefit from an open, networking,
consensus-decision-making type indymedia collective and indymedia website
if this were ready. i'm not sure if trying to *officially* create an
indymedia collective in a hurry is a good idea, especially given the
police repression which you can expect. Of course, creating a *website*
rather quickly is no problem - but from your email it looks like you
can do this fairly locally anyway - the more difficult thing is the
people organising, getting to know each other, getting to trust each
other, getting to understand communication methods, etc etc. - which
generally takes more time.

In any case, indymedia is non-hierarchical - you're welcome to ask
for help on any mailing list (a few of the global ones are for official
liaisons, like imc-process, but that's probably not your priority right
now anyway), for tech help, chat on #tech on irc.indymedia.org is a place
where you can often find tech people.

i'm cc-ing to imc-austria and hungary because they're closer to you
than most of the indymedia activists in imc pl - having face-to-face
contact is often a good help in addition to email, wiki, irc, ...

Anyway, bart's message:
http://archives.lists.indymedia.org/new-imc/2004-April/005032.html
is definitely a good guide for how to get organised, i would just add
the wiki pages:

http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/NewImc
and especially
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/NewImcHowTo

and also you should check out the other IMCs in central/eastern europe:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcCEEurope

pozdrawiam
boud (imc-pl-torun volunteer)
