Greetings fellow IMC-ers and activists, im bringing to your attention a strange thing from the irish IMC. Recently I posted an article entitled "What about the core (Corr)?: “A global conspiracy of tip-toe totalitarianism.” Sep 11 + No to Lisbon"  (see copy of original below), I dont think it was in any breach of editorial guidelines and it existed for about a week with a number of  responses about issues related to 911 and US policy. Then 3 days ago it was hidden by the IMC-IE editors. After asking around it turns out that there is a lot of strange things going on with this IMC node, in fact some people invovled from the early days of the IMC project have gone from complaining about this node to full on boycott of the site and the creation of an alternative: http://iosaf.baywords.com/

A recent report: "Proof of the now well known completely arbitrary abuse of editorial privileges." and a somewhat related article: "Pirates & Hackers: 3 Tales, from the high seas of the netwars"
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/76375

Eitherway, i hope to get an adaquate response to these questions from the IMC-IE collective.

Salut from BCN

What about the core (Corr)?: “A global conspiracy of tip-toe totalitarianism.” Sep 11 + No to Lisbon

While listening to the Ray Darcy show on Today.FM last Friday, there was much discussion about Jim Corr. Having missed the intro I was not sure what it was all about, after some discussion Ray got Jim online and they had a discussion about many things political, and for some, conspiratorial. The fuss grew due to a radio interview the previous day with fellow Today.FM talk show, the last word, with Matt Cooper. Below is a recording of the full interview with Matt and it outlines, amongst other things, Jim’s views that firstly people should vote no to the Lisbon treaty, that it is part of “A global conspiracy of tip-toe totalitarianism.” And that September 11th, was an inside job, done to cut back on civil liberties and to bring about the US led “war on terror”…

What about the core? Refers to the ongoing structural question which has been officially left unanswered regarding to the fall of the inner cores of the twin towers….HHHHMMMM

After listening to Jim’s views, many Irish people felt such things as “that Jim Corr is a chunder-headed, bandwagon-jumping knobcheese' and to be fair, Ray Darcy did give him a hard enough time in the live interview. But, the results of the phone in on Ray’s show showed that most people were, more or less, in agreement with Jim. He stated that now 60% of people in the US feel that September was an inside job by “rogue elements within the Bush administration”, he stated that he was a “truth-seeker” and he asks people to make up their own mind by watching the freely available film “9-11 mysteries” on Google videos.

It might all seem unbelievable but there are many more respected people voicing the same concerns as Jim regarding September 11th, the takeover of US democracy or the unseen US “coup de-etat” due to the slow erosion of freedom and civil liberties. 2 recent, and well respected, people were interviewed by Amy Goodman on the excellent and highly trusted online community news source Democracy Now. The first was legendary writer and thinker: Gore Vidal, a cousin of Al Gore. He is very critical of the present regime and spoke very harshly against what has happened recently:

You can see little Bush all along was just dreaming of war, and also Cheney dreaming about oil wells and how you knock apart a country like Iraq and of course their oil will pay for the damage you do. For that alone, he should have been put in front of a firing squad.

The second was Veteran Journalist Robert Scheer, author of “The Pornography of Power: How Defense Hawks Hijacked 9/11 and Weakened America”, as he says:

You either have a republic, in which people have control, or you have the empire. And what Jefferson and Washington up through Eisenhower and McGovern warned us against is the empire. If you have an empire, the people cannot have the basic information, they will be lied to, they will be deceived. You know, that’s what the weapons of mass destruction and everything. And the reason that Washington in his farewell address, that Eisenhower in his farewell address, warned us about empire is they knew it was incompatible with democracy.

Yes, if we’re on a local level, I’ve written locally, local columns. If I say you should have a traffic light there or close that school there or the police are corrupt, people can get the information. They know what you’re talking about when it’s kept local. When you have an empire, you don’t get that information for what? Twenty, thirty, forty years, if ever. They can lie to you with impunity. People have no basis of challenging them. So what we’re really talking about is, if we are wedded to an imperial model, if we are wedded to a permanent war economy, to permanent expansion, you can forget democracy.
