Update, Analysis and Proposal


IMC Patras has just announced its dissolvement.

IMC Patras was one of the two IndyMedia groups that launched a wave of 
false accusations against Cyprus IndyMedia in recent weeks. That was 
their last political act.

Following is a summary and analysis of this development from the point 
of view of the Cyprus IndyMedia Collective. And a short Proposal at the end.

IMC Patras has made the announcement of its self-dissolvement officially 
on their website, here:

It's the top Feature article right now on the page.

They explained their decision in that Feature article, plus gave a

The group has not faced any serious opposition from Police, nor was it 
crushed by the powers of Capital or the State. It was not suppressed by 
the illegal extra-judicial arms of the ruling class. IMC Patras has made 
the decision to dissolve on its own.

Among other things, the members of the group explained in their own 
words that the reasons for dissolving include:
o- their own conception of participatory (direct) democracy, that 
created problems in "procedures".
o- their own conception of participatory journalism, that made it 
difficult to operate.
o- their group's position at the edge, or the periphery, of the 
community's struggles.
o- their group's distance from the community, making continuity and 
rejuvenation of the group impossible.
o- their inability to cope with the politically and spatially 
decentralized nature of IndyMedia.
o- their own perceived distance between those who create news and those 
who reported them (to whom they refer to as the "collective subjective").
o- the group did not create enough articles of their own to publish.
o- reduced readership.
o- not keeping up with the work they had assigned to themselves.


We are sad with these developments.

We are sad because one more IndyMedia outlet is shutting down due to its 
own inner contradictions.
We are sad because our colleagues in Patras did not have the decency to 
honestly inform the rest of global IndyMedia that they were on their 
last breath.
We are sad because they knowingly spent their last breath hurling 
accusations, lies and venom at their sister group in Cyprus.


Our Proposal

We have shown in several articles that the unprovoked accusations from 
IMC Patras against Cyprus IndyMedia are simple malice without any proof, 
and without foundation. Now our accusers admit that they, themselves, 
did not even have a foundation on which to exist.

On the basis of our accusers own self-dissolvement and self-negation, we 
ask you, the rest of our colleagues in global IndyMedia to negate the 
false accusations against us.

IMC Patras acaba de anunciar su dissolvement.

IMC Patras fue uno de los dos grupos de Indymedia que lanzaron una ola 
de acusaciones falsas en contra de IndyMedia Chipre en las últimas 
semanas. Ese fue su último acto político.

Lo que sigue es un resumen y análisis de este desarrollo desde el punto 
de vista del Colectivo Indymedia Chipre. Y una Propuesta a corto al final.

IMC Patras ha hecho el anuncio de su auto-dissolvement oficialmente en

El grupo no se ha enfrentado a una oposición seria de la Policía, ni fue 
aplastada por los poderes de la Capital o el Estado. No fue suprimida 
por el ilícito de armas extra-judiciales de la clase dominante. IMC 
Patras ha tomado la decisión de disolver por sí misma.

Entre otras cosas, los miembros del grupo se explica en sus propias 
palabras, que las razones para la disolución son:
o- su propia concepción de la democracia participativa (la democracia 
directa), que ha creado problemas en los "procedimientos".
o- su propia concepción del periodismo participativo, que hizo difícil 
de manejar.
o- de su grupo posición en el borde, o de la periferia, de la lucha de 
la comunidad.
o- de su grupo a distancia de la comunidad, la continuidad de la toma y 
el rejuvenecimiento del grupo imposible.
o- su incapacidad para hacer frente a la política y espacialmente 
descentralizada de la naturaleza de Indymedia.
o- distancia percibida su propia entre los que crean noticias y los que 
les informó (a quien se refieren como el "colectivo subjetiva").
o- el grupo no ha creado suficientes artículos de su propia publicación.
o- reducido número de lectores.
o- no, mantenerse al día con el trabajo que había asignado a sí mismos.


Estamos tristes con esta evolución.

Estamos tristes porque una mayor toma de Indymedia se está cerrando 
debido a sus propias contradicciones internas.
Estamos tristes porque nuestros colegas en Patras no tuvo la decencia de 
informar con honestidad el resto del mundial de Indymedia que estaban en 
su último aliento.
Estamos tristes porque a sabiendas, pasaron su último aliento lanzando 
acusaciones, mentiras y veneno en su grupo hermano en Chipre.


Nuestra Propuesta

Hemos demostrado en varios artículos que las acusaciones no provocada de 
IMC Patras ante Chipre IndyMedia son simples malicia, sin ninguna 
prueba, y sin fundamento. Ahora nuestros acusadores admiten que ellos 
mismos, ni siquiera tener una base sobre la que existe.

Sobre la base de nuestros acusadores propio dissolvement y 
auto-negación, le pedimos, el resto de nuestros colegas de Indymedia 
global para negar las acusaciones falsas contra nosotros.
