Hi Folks, Hola a tod at s,
Not to pressure, just hoping that the discussion about
the Guatemala proposal can develop quickly as the FSA
begins in about 10 days.
Things continue to move forward in Guatemala. Thus
far 2 spaces have been guaranteed after serious
negotiations with the FSA organizing committee. The
big sticking point has been the internet, that has
been confirmed as a ridiculously high cost of Q12,000
($1666.00 usd) for 7 days by a local firm. Including
a techie from the business. This cost does not
include the network or anything like. Comppa and
others with work to install that network. The FSA
organizers have committed to cover a minimal amount of
that internet cost Q1500 ($208usd) but the IMC
organizers are constantly negotiating for a larger
commitment from the FSA.
AMARC Guate is trying to get funding for the space,
Rigts Action has made a minimal commitment, and
partial funding to the Other Cooperative for some
printing materials has been achieved.
Please let me know if there is any other information
that we provide to facilitate an open discussion about
this proposal.
In Solidaridad,
Timo
