on a personal note, I was smitten by the way people came together to expres=
s
their concerns. I am not convinced that they will take any of it into
consideration. It will take plenty of buggering for us to get the attention
of city council (as they claim) to get the "yay" or "nay" votes and we will
have to make plenty of noise in order to embarrass the s**t out of them in
order to get what we want. Couple of my students showed up and kinda caught
them off guard...(plenty more where that came from).

This is FAR from over, and I honestly doubt that this little gathering had
any sway.

This is not a Kalpulli event and I hope I haven&#39;t left this impress=
ion - and this is why I asked if it was in order for me to make use of the =

 It just occurred to me that the membership of the Kalpulli should be aw=
are of what was planned for the Medicine Stone, since the news broke two da=
ys ago and caused an uproar on facebook, and that individual members would =
like to be present. It was in this spirit that I asked if the Danza could p=
articipate, and we were really heartened by your response.=A0 The replies a=
nd suggestions I received from Cemel=ED and Jackie were also encouraging. <=

It just seemed to me obvious that the group most affected by this silly=
 proposal would be the first to make objections known.=A0 
 The event, which will occur, is organized by the <a href=3D"http://bobo=
land-cronicas.us/indexz.html" target=3D"_blank">El Paso/Ju=E1rez/Las Cruces=
 Independent Media Collective.</a> The link will take you to our last posti=
ng before we hook up to the global indymedia network, as we have been accep=
ted and has just purchased a server which is housed at the Farmworker&#39;s=
 Center. Carlos is a founding member of our group.

Not too long ago we sponsored a Circle of Peace at the alligator plaza.=
 Your dad and Elvia opened our ceremony, and grandpa Pete gave the opening =
prayer. The event was successful. We will be celebrating Gabriel&#39=
;s mural this evening, and will join you in prayer through the Danza.

I really hope the Danza and others from the area can participate tomorr=

 A group of people met with Mayor=20
Cook and an individual from the museum/arts staff - among our people who we=
re vocal=20
were little Bear, Miguel Ju=E1rez, Arlina Palacios - Cook was non-commital=
=A0 and seemingly uninterested. Ray E. Rojas (both Los Lagart=
os and the Aztec Calendar)As
 in the removal of any public art works, like the Aztec Calendar, we=20
feel that plans for the Plaza can change over time, and we want to make=20
sure that they don=92t change drastically over time=97in other words, we=20
need to see genuine interest from you and the City Council in keeping=20
Los Lagartos at the Plaza, as well as the character of the historic=20
Plaza intact. If we have to, we are prepared to take the following=20
steps:
 (a) We will file a referendum to vote to keep the Lagartos in Sa=
n Jacinto(b) We will continue our campaign to keep the issue in the =
minds of the voting public.(c)
 We are not pushing for the recall but if you take the Lagartos away=20
from the Plaza, we will vote and encourage our committee and supporters=20
to vote for the recall.
 Another issue we would like to address is who changed the=20
name from a Plaza to a Park? When was this done? Was there community=20
input to the name change? We need to see that same commitment for the=20
Aztec Calendar=97who decided to move it? Why did you not seek public=20
