Media Convergence Planning - London 14 / 15th May
Notes from working group meeting 30th march 05

OTHER MEETINGS

Need to have meeting in scotland prior to convergence
Good to also have meetings in edinburgh and glasgow


VENUE + ACCOMMODATION

- Venue confirmed.
- Marquee ok for erection at back.
- More discussion needed on accommodation.
- Still need fallback options for reserve venue - spaces are being contacted
- Additional accommodation probably needed in other buildings


CONTENT (much to be made available as info pack)

- Intro - aims of 2 days
- Introductions + ask what people want to get out of 2 days / what skills 
and kit people can bring / what they can help out with / what they think is 
important

- Presentations on different mobilisations / political context
- Protests planned and known locations possibly with photos / videos
- Basic legal infos inc media related

- Basic indy introduction
- Indy so far for g8 reporting (venues / logistics / projects)
- Basic description of dispatch (confirming details etc) , reporting info 
flows, how to plug in
- Short presentations of other alt media plans

The following through with assembly discussion then working groups etc etc etc


ISSUES

- Need to be clear what decision making powers the assembly has in advance
- Proposed to have list of 'fixed' points and 'moveable' recommendations
- Important to find the balance between info updates on what has been 
organised already by indy folks, and ensuring involvement and ownership by 
others.
- Need to be clear on what sort of main media centre is being organised - 
just for indy folks or for everyone - or split into areas.

PROMOTION OF CONVERGENCE

- Translations required asap - ask individuals, refer to indy translation 
pages (de and sp done)
- More detailed draft timetable required
- Invites to go out to individual media groups / networks / projects
- Flyer to be done asap


MATTERS ARISING

- Proposal to have no imc press id cards
- Proposal to look at some form of sign in / pass for main media centre access
- Proposal to consider 'no corporate media access' to media centre
- Possibly consider corp media contact
