Hi,
there are a few video groups who are thinking about how to do collective
projects.
people need to also remember events like the seizure of the genoa video archive,
so any archive copying and footage sharing needs to bear this in mind. also
for people who want to participate in video stuff again the access terms to
pooled footage needs to be clear - this is something that needs to be developed
aside from any legal considerations.
there are already strong contacts with the legal supoport groups and there will
be some meetings with legal teams arranged in the future, though they wish it
to be invite only. we have to understand that some of these issues are
sensitive, esp after peoples experiences in other mobilisations abroad.
short training and "your rights on the streets" type info as has already been
suggested is a high priority.
i like the more pro-active class action style approach and indeed a couple of us
are talking informally to civil liberties groups and lawyers contacts who we
were in touch with over the server seizure in relation to g8 - there should be
some draft proposals for ideas soon which can be discussed.
its also worth noting that the freelance nuj has in the past before things like
mayday mounted camapigns over police treatment of journalists and its safe to
assume they will be equally worried over the g8 - and probably up for an abuse
montitoring project in the same way that the civil liberties groups are.
ciao,
dave
