Th email attached below came in on London indymedia list, and should
probably be dealt with on the imc-g8-2005 list.
My personal opinion is the actual Forest Cafe space will be too full
with people to be of much use beyond wall displays, and Indymedia should
not worry about it, beyond inputting into choices of films projected on
wall.
Also what is the 'official' status on publicising the use of the old
church above the Forest Cafe as being used by Indymedia. It has been
given in panel advert in Variant paper available in art galleries around
the country.

Given this and fact so many people know that it will be there, I think
it is ok to have material on wiki with the location that some one was
going to put there, I say this because there was some debate before on
this list when some wished to put poster design there.
Are we waiting to work out registration details before putting out any
real outreach that gives it location?
I think as come people are confused about if we are using the actual
cafe it would be good to put out clear that we are using the ex-church
above it, and entry policy if confirmed.
Note I myself am busy with responding to the G8 with other groups, and
so not able to engage much with Indymedia's response.
But am keeping an eye on developments.
cheers,

Hi guys,
I spoke about this with a few of you at the media convergence last month, but realised I hadn't got this ok'd from the group as a whole.
I'm with the Creative Forum and we are looking to use the Forest Cafe ground floor space, around it functioning as a cafe, as an Open Forum space.
You will be using upstairs, no?
And possibly put on film screenings in the evening in the cafe?
How do you feel about sharing the cafe space? I'd like Indymedia to input into what we do anyway.
Sorry if I'm stepping on toes with this.
Below is the proposal sent to the Forest Cafe. Dates need to be confirmed.

Creative Forum
--------------------
Estimated use to be 2nd July to 9th July.
The Creative Forum would like to use the cafe space for putting on discussion forums, presentations, workshops, skill/info sharing, film screenings. This would be done so as to not interfere with the functioning of the cafe.
It would be run as an 'OpenSpace', where the event is made up of, and organised by, the audience (participants) themselves. Looking to have invited and planned activities as well as the activities provided by the participants. How much will be going on, and when, is dictated by the participants. So it can be anticipated that there will moments of high activity as well as times with not much going on.
Space useage, minimally, would be a medium sized table with chairs to sit around - a meeting area, though it would be prefered to see the whole cafe as the forum space, where the activities are run alongside those of the cafe. It would be great also to have a table that we can use as an 'infoshop', for laying out information literature on the alternatives that we publicise.
Other requirements would be access to electrical plugs for a laptop or dvd player. Somewhere for a notice board, a wall or freestanding, for announcing activities and self-organising of the forum. I'm told you have projector.
Would it be possible for us to use it for presentations and film screenings?
"What is the Creative Forum?"
The Creative Forum exists as an open space for bringing together different and diverse groups and individuals to meet, share and express creative visions of another world, and to network alternatives to the conventional way of thinking with regards to global political ecological and ethical relationships.
The Creative Forum was setup to build creative networks and active friendships. Our 'Visions of Another World' events are in a way, mini-Social Forums, with a view of creating positive change.
The events are platforms for presentation, discussion, networking and skill-sharing, with independently-minded entertainment and creativity.
