---///
Minutes -

Proposal to form video affinity teams so people aren't
working alone -
This will prevent the loss of footage.

Question of where people are based. Too this could
decide what teams form.

Info for the process and how to donate your footage so
people can give this to other people with camcorders.

A break down -

video.indymedia.org –
and archive.org can handle broadcast media.
Xvid, and mpeg2, mpeg1 -
Hamish and Mick to write a guide to video server space
and codecs as well.

Create a g8 video blog – which has a short description
and a link to the media uploaded.
All material could be seen at a glance.

This site would work on indymedia principles site,
co-ordinated by imc-uk-video list – open posting –
with guidelines - opensource – not incriminating
material.

This page doesn't have to be part of Mir, if it is
troblesome to make it happen.
But if it can that would be good to avoid double
posting

Penny to look at guidelines. Including Guidelines for
covering faces.

NOTE:
Should co-ordinate with the imc-uk-photo group as they
are also working on this.

Ask Mike Holderness or NUJ about our rights to shoot
and our rights if arrested.
Press card comes with a password – and attitude.
NUJ are about to tighten requirements. Advice to get
in there and get NUJ card.

EDO case, anonymous indymedia posts are used in court.

Team – shared resource – media response group looking
at setting up a location for the mainstream.

Wiki page - a list of people we want to collect
interviews from but this has turned into a wish list.

Consensus that there shouldn't necessarity be one film
but that we would like to encourage a culture of
sharing footage which goes hand in hand with editorial
control.

Open source footage when released should be released
in the quality which is appropriate.

France had a room of editors who helped film makers to
put things together -

Proposal : We hope to create a team to create a
screenings dvd of rushes of things that have happened,
and pre-recorded rushes as well. An open source
version.
Mpeg1 can be included on this as well for footage that
people don't want to distribute at full quality.
This would be distributed to cinemas and mobile
cinemas and beyond.

Selling footage – There was awareness of the diversity
of issues involved.

A suggestion to work with journeyman or paul from
undercurrents. they charge to 30%-50% of the money you
get from Mainstream.

An awareness that you should be very careful before
you engage with the mainstream if you aren't savvy
about how it will be used.

Defense Hard Drive – Legal stuff.

We have an awareness that Guidelines for what things
we copy for use in court cases and what footage should
be erased or “dissapear” would be helpful.

Archival process.

Data: An index - logging tapes that come in.

Media:
1) Original tapes – which we have an index and contact
details of the owner – good for legal. These stay with
the owner.
2) Extented Highlights - "clipped out" tapes which –
archived video files, phone video.
3)Dvd release of daily screening material and rushes.

Proposals:

Recreate a video leaflet – about our process,
guidelines for logging, what to not shoot or what to
get rid of, date stamps should be set [non visibly].
And a page which links to resources for new video
activists.

Index of tapes and log sheet who has shot what where.
Process to be imc-uk-video

A resource of clipped tapes, and a hard drive to be
archived – to be co-ordinated transparently by the
imc-uk-video group. This should be backed up and
removed from imc, each day.
