hi nick, all,

well, as i understand it, it works thus:

==> antimilitarism is a topic, will (does) have it's own startpage
==> g8 is an action/event, will (does) have it's own startpage

==> g8 ==> antimilitarism  	}
AND				} (sub-pages) both exist
==> antimilitarism ==> g8  	}

all the startpages have the newswire with posts that had that
topic/action ticked.

a regionalstartpage.special or topic.startpagespecial will be top of the
relevant pages. i.e. an antimilitarism topic.startpagespecial would be
top of:

==> antimilitarism topic startpage
==> g8 action ==> antimilitarism subaction-topic startpage

a g8 action.startpagespecial would appear top of:

==> g8 action startpage
==> antimilitarism ==> g8 subtopic-action startpage

startpagespecials *can* have a READ MORE link, so you can definitely
write as much as you like. but be sure to make the abstract make sense
on it's own, as many people will not click on the 'read more' link.

a good example of how this was done previously was with the thessaloniki
archive: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/09/270178.html (man, did i
really remember that link still!). you will see that there was an
introductory paragraph, then several sub-sections on the page (split
using <h2> tags, iirc, but you can check in the admin page) with lots of
links to other pages and references.

:-) this looks good. and is a good length, too, for an introductory
text. two comments, tho:

1. you might like to include more links to background from the actual
text, e.g. to wikipedia links if there are any on such general themes as
'military activity,' 'corporate interests,' 'global economic hegemony.'
of course, i know that these may not exist, but there may be related
articles/background - even on imc-uk - that could or should be included.

2. i'm not sure about the quote: who care's what the ny times star
columnist says? although it is an interesting quote from the heart of
corporate america.
