We just received this from our two Finnish friends who are at the

OAXACA: URGENT CALL FOR ACTION (29.10.06)

In Oaxaca, Mexico, a wide social movement aiming at the resignation 
of
governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz has been active for five months. Ruiz 
is
responsible for murders, assaults, disappearances of people and 
wide

In the last few days violence and repression in the city has 
escalated,
and federal police troops have entered Oaxaca to evict 
demonstrators from
the city center.

On Friday 27.10., three local teachers and an American IndyMedia-
journalist
Bradley Will were shot dead in broad daylight. The shooters, in 
civilian
clothes, have been identified as local police, hired by Ulises 
Ruiz. Local
authorities are trying to blame Will’s death on leftist activists.
During the previous months more than 15 people have been killed, 
many more
detained, assaulted or disappeared.

DAY OF DEAD – INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

To support the movement organize demonstrations in front of your 
local
embassy.

This week’s Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (Oct 31st – Nov. 2nd) 
people
in Mexico will be celebrating one of the most important religious 
holidays
of the year, the day of the dead.  During this holiday people 
prepare
altars to honor their loved ones who’ve passed away.

One idea would be to prepare a small altar with a picture of one of 
the
murdered and take your altar to your embassy. All you need is a 
picture,
some candles and maybe some flowers. Here you can find a picture of
