of under-reported news
Compiled by Bob Nixon

low-level radioactive cesium 137 was carried into U.S. ports to
manufacture two "dirty bombs."
* A squatter community in Mumbai, India is making progress with micro
loans and communal savings plans; however, Mumbai officials have sent in
police to destroy 90,000 squatter homes in order to make way for land
development.
* Overcrowding and a correction system policy of racial segregation
overlooked as a trigger for recent Los Angeles County prison system
riots.
