FROM THE FRONT LINES OF THE EGYPTIAN UPRISING

Matthew Cassel, The Electronic Intifada, 30 January 2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11763.shtml

Regardless of what sparked the situation that exists
today, Arabs are uniting in their resistance to Western
interference in the region and its oppressive autocracies.
As one Egyptian activist said to me yesterday, "They try
to say that we Arabs are all different and we're
disconnected. But look what's happening now: uprisings in
Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen -- even Jordan! We are one, it's
absolutely clear." Matthew Cassel comments from Cairo.

AS ARABS RISE UP, US ACTIVISTS MUST TOO PERSEVERE

Maureen Clare Murphy, The Electronic Intifada, 31 January
2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11765.shtml

In the last several days, Tunisia and Egypt have shown us
what is possible when people are no longer afraid of those
in power who deny them their rights and rob them of a life
of freedom and dignity. But government repression of
peoples' struggles is not endured only in the Middle East.

GLOBAL MOBILIZATION IN SUPPORT OF EGYPTIAN UPRISING

Report, The Electronic Intifada, 31 January 2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11766.shtml

An international day of mobilization has been called for
Saturday, 5 February in solidarity with the Egyptian and
Tunisian people as they continue their popular uprisings.
Thousands around the world have already taken to the
streets to stand in solidarity with the people of Egypt

EGYPT'S UPRISING AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR PALESTINE

Ali Abunimah, The Electronic Intifada, 29 January 2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11762.shtml

We are in the middle of a political earthquake in the Arab
world and the ground has still not stopped shaking. To
make predictions when events are so fluid is risky, but
there is no doubt that the uprising in Egypt -- however it
ends -- will have a dramatic impact across the region and
within Palestine.

THE PALESTINE PAPERS AND THE "GAZA COUP"

Ali Abunimah, The Electronic Intifada, 27 January 2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11756.shtml

An initial reading of the Palestine Papers provides
details of hitherto unknown secret, high-level
"Quadripartite" meetings among Israeli, American, Egyptian
and Palestinian officials whose explicit goal appears to
have been to undermine the Palestinian national unity
government. The essential point here is that part of the
PA -- loyal to Mahmoud Abbas and backed by the US -- was
actively plotting with Israel and its allies against the
legitimately-constituted unity government. Ali Abunimah
analyzes.

PA UNDERMINED ACCOUNTABILITY FOR GAZA VICTIMS, PAPERS
REVEAL

Report, The Electronic Intifada, 27 January 2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11757.shtml

Among some of the latest Palestine Papers revelations are
agreements to push the United Nations Human Rights Council
to delay a vote on the Goldstone report, the fact-finding
probe of alleged war crimes committed during Israel's
winter 2008-09 attacks on the Gaza Strip.

GOLAN HEIGHTS ACTIVIST: "WE DREAM OF FREEDOM"

Adri Nieuwhof, The Electronic Intifada, 28 January 2011
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11747.shtml

Since the Syrian Golan Heights were occupied during the
June 1967 War, the indigenous Arab population has resisted
Israeli control. The Electronic Intifada contributor Adri
Nieuwhof interviews Taiseer Maray, general director of the
non-profit organization Golan for Development, about the
situation in the occupied Golan Heights.
