à courts d'écran and Jakarta International film Festival (JiFFest) 2007 presents La Femis Collection 2006. La Fémis is the prestigious French State Film School, created in 1986 from IDHEC. Until now, more than 700 professionals have been trained in all filmmaking trades, including filmmakers such as François Ozon, Noémie Lvovsky and Renaud Cohen. The school is located in the ancient studios of Pathé in rue Francour, Paris. Compiled by la Fémis in 2006, this selection will give you an illustration of the strength of culture and tradition in this school.

In this animation, an FBI agent bugs a crime ring occupying a motel room in Dalls in 1963. But he is caught in trap and unable to rescue his colleagues fallen to the crime.

La traversée (The Crossing)

Sabrina works at Le Havre docks. She meets Aïcha, an old Algerian woman who embodies Algerian culture unknown to Sabrina, despite of her own North-African origin.

Les pieds devant
Dir.: Luc Meilland
In this wordless film, close relations are gathered to lead one of theirs to this last house. The funeral meets ponies and hunters, crosses wood, fields, vineyards and hills, faces rain, cold, snow and fog, but the destination is somewhere else, from a hill much closer to Heaven.

Sauf le silence (Except the silence)

Louise's husband has just got sent to prison. She tries to pull herself together, look after her son, talk to her man in spite of being pulled apart by anger, treason, sadness and paperwork.

Treinta años de (Thirty years)
Dir.: Nicolás Lasnibat
Thirty years after Pinochet's takeover in Chile. Jorge comes back to his birthplace, Valparaiso, after a long exile in France. He comes to search an important part of his past and to find the traces of a country who prefers forget his old distress.

à courts d'écran is a program which facilitates both French and Indonesian short filmmakers by offering a place to hold film screenings. Screenings of both countries' selected short films are held at CCF Jakarta followed by a discussion between the filmmakers and the audience. Young Indonesian filmmakers can send a copy of their films to CCF Jakarta who will then select the films that will be screened in the program.
