Great policy so far, Gail. Thanks for doing this work. I've got some
quick comments in case the editorial collective wants to make some
changes:
In the 'Articles That May Be Hidden' section:
- Verbatim posts of other media without added content
I think this one is too broad. Some media content, like other IMCs, is
helpful and necessary to be posted on our site. I'm usually the one
that's encouraging everyone to write original articles, but since we've
been operating, I've noticed that the re-posted articles are sometimes
helpful and folks like this outlet. I do think, however, that we should
limit the posts that are re-posted from corporate mainstream media. For
instance, we all see a difference between San Fran IMC and CNN, right?
So, I'd be all in favor of reposting San Fran IMC articles but not CNN's.
Does that make sense? But, if we want to enforce something as strict as
what's being suggested, I'll be for it because I do think original content
is ultimately what's going to make our site unique in Las Vegas and
throughout the world.
All the rest, seems ok to me. Oh, and I don't think people can e-mail
imc-lasvegas-edit at lists.indymedia.org. That e-mail address is only for
those people who are signed up to the e-mail list. I'd suggest that the
editorial collective get their own e-mail address, say imcedit at yahoo.com
or something similar for now.
About the hyphenating of able-ism (ableism), I don't know the correct way
but I feel that either way, folks will know what we mean.
Thanks for letting us know where the editorial collective is at in the
process and I wholly appreciate all the work you and the others are doing!
