Alana: thanks for the post, with which I agree, and thanks for mentioning my 
contribution to the discussion.

I can understand where Gail's comin' from on this, and I do think that some 
posts should be permanently hidden, dependin' on the nature of the content 
involved.

While I hate personal attacks with a passion, the reason I don't favour 
hidin' those permanently, is for the very reason that Jason pointed out in 
his post-it's just simply better to have that in plain sight, so's NOT to 
give the Hamptons of the world any reason to scream censorship and all that 
nonsense.

The less evidence you give for their arguments, the sillier they look in the 
eyes of the General Public, and, as you pointed out, it's the latter whom we 
are here to serve as best we can.

Pardon my soundin' like an idealistic civil servant there, but, maybe what 
the world needs are civil servants and others, who are conscious of bein' 
there to serve the Public, and who are keenly aware of that responsibility.

At least, that's how I see our role. Others may feel differently, and such 
is their right.
