hello all

OK I expect Pen will be back now ... welcome home :)

I have been thinking about this for sometime now and have come to these
conclusions here is a long thought out proposal

I have spoken to a few people about the premade shows ive been producing
from home and the feed back ive got has been very encouraging. partly now
that ive worked out how to put my voice stright into audacity (but could do
with a better mic)
I think we have each developed our own uinique style which is different from
each other.
Basicly i dont like the format of running thru as many stories as we
possibly can at a breakneck speed, I feel a bit drained after shows whereas
if I am doing my own thing I can work at my own pace and think I sound
better to the audience when relaxed.
I dont think we really inform as much as we would like to, I think we do
listeners an 'info overload' sometimes (There is too much stuff that dosent
get aired cause there aint enough time)
I think somtimes its nice to have a much more laid back music speech mix
rather than the 'news desk' approach.
Also the 'i will do it every 2 weeks' didnt work as i have produced nearly
every outro for the last 6 months ,so effectively had some responsibility
towards the show every week even if not in the studio and could do with some
weeks when I dont have to start worrying about whats going into a show.
Making outros takes me only a little less time than making a whole show and
I probably spend on average 1 1/2 days working on the radio each week so
would like some weeks when I dont have to.
I realise that we have all been over worked with the show and I think we
have done a great job overall.
There are only 3 of us who are commited to regulary doing shows (OK i know
Casp is somtimes available but even he dosnt know when he is or isnt, it
seems)
I do like going in to the studio sometimes but its easier and cheaper for me
not to.
So.
What I propose, is that as we take a week each and commit to producing an
hours program every three weeks and its up to each of us how those shows
turn out and if we go to the studio, to a loccation (if thats possible) or
home but its each of ours responsibility, if one of us wants to involve
another on our week we can, but that person has sole jurisdiction and
responsibility over that weeks program. Design, concept, directon and
production.
Added bonus's
You have far longer to organise your show, and a chance to forward plan.
Things like an in depth feature, if somthing important comes up repetedly
that we are into
We each get to do them the way we enjoy them.
It balances the workload more evenly between us and kinda makes it less.
and there is a variety of shows, same but different each week (variety is
the spice of life :)
This way it gives us each a breathing space between shows and it is loking
to be a very busy summer after all.
I enjoy doing the show from home also I dont have to worry about the
prerecord outro and can talk right up till the last second if i want to when
at home
It takes me the same time to go into the studio in town as it does to make a
premade program and somtimes its longer to make one (todays took 5 hours and
going into the studio can be as short as 3 hours but it dosnt cost me a
fiver or tenner !
Collabaration is possible and if somthing comes up that we would like to see
in that weeks show, say an interview, we can arrange it and give a list of
questions to the person dong the show that week and get them to do it
weather over the phone, in the studio or on location the method depends on
what that person feels most comfortable with at that time.
I really want to continue producing the indymedia programs for resonance but
do not want to continue making programes like we have in the past, it is
easier if I got a few stories to read but there is no telling from week to
week if there are any written as im not much of a writer and if they are not
there I can cope with that,no problemo if I know its my responsibility,
there is so much good audio that we quite often dont get to put it out.
There is no shortage of material if no stories written.
My approach is, if i got stories ill read them and if not ill do a rundown
of the headlines on the newswire (or both) plus a bunch of interesting
premade audio articles from http://www.radio.indymedia.org and/or
http://www.radio4all.net , a few peices of music, giving a few facts and
info on how to find out more on the subjects touched, if listeners want to,
and with a 'whats hppening / upcoming' guide as well depending on whats
going down.

well thats my ideas on this what do you think

the only thing that protects our freedom, despite the fact that
people keep trying to reduce it or kill it altogether.
