[Imc-london-audio] imminent schedule changes

Looks like the consensus is to go with the flow over the summer and put
together a proposal for a new show starting in September or October,
providing we've got enough support. If we were the BBC we'd have about
six fulltimers for each hour of radio; obviously we've got less time
committed to it than that, but what we should have is more diversity in
contributions.

>would be nice to get some feedback on their decision making process eh?!

I'll ask Richard, but the subtext of his email is he's shaking up the
schedule wholesale and he doesn't want to get into a fight about it.

>though the "I hope you will do a new series for us later in the year" is an
>option in there....

I think we should positively suggest a date for the restart: ?week
commencing 2 Oct.
>i guess there's three options for the radio crew
>
>a) fight to keep the show in place

This was my first thought. But in fact I think it's quite nice to have a
break. It's not like we have huge pressure from IMCs all over sending us
brilliant stuff all the time (which would be the ideal).

>b) forget about everything
>c) rest recuperate and reformat and apply for something new after the
>summer (in a more suitable time slot?)

What's anyone's thoughts on the amount of time, and the time of day we
would ideally have?

>personaly for me a summer break would be welcome... and in any case after
>the next 2 weeks shows, i would have been unavailable for working on the
>show for almost 2 months - the summer has always been difficult to staff
>anyways.

Me too. It's a lot to get together all by yourself. I've been allowing a
couple of sessions: i.e. a day or so, which has been a lot of fun, but
it does mean that other things don't happen. I'm also keenly aware of
how much better it could be if I had more time and energy, but it hasn't
happened.

>that said it's a very short notice isn't it... "imminent" - too right! -
>this would mean only 4 shows left from now:
>
>7th / 14th / 21 / 28th....

I think we should think about fitting in a few "best of" archive items
to remind them how brilliant we are...

or maybe propose a one off show from the archive over the summer?

The problem is, the archive is erratic. I am afraid this got worse since
Pennie left for Palestine. I have not succeeded in uploading one show...
despite having it as my top priority. They wouldn't let me access the
station archive in any practical way, and both times I tried to roll a
minidisk, the engineer, Al fucked it up.

>We should have a chat with Richard and Chris soon but lets all have a nice
>summer off, but maybe propose a special to cover Russian G8.

After my initial reaction, I think the right thing is to go with the
station's decision gracefully, and come back at them with a new improved
show in October. After all, we can always set up our own radio station
if we don't like resonance ;-)
