[Imc-london-audio] indymedia podcast

I'll be listening live at home tomorrow: finally getting a much needed
spell of r'n'r while Pennie takes the strain in Palestine and the lads
in the Resonance office upload a file.

Talking of which, it would be nice if the promised podcast file link here:

<http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/static/radio.html>

was fully functional. I will undertake to initiate conversation with
Salim Fahdley (?) about this tomorrow.

Did anyone else have any thoughts about how the radio archive would
function? I visualised a nice sorta wiki page that we'd leave open but
keep an eye on (wikispam isn't usually too much of a problem), with
brief text outlines of each show and a selection of lovely hi/lo-res mp3/
ogg files/streams to choose from, and links to text files of the actual
scripts used/guest details and links etc. We should also introduce a
feedback segment into the show. I'm working on an ident for the slot
based on the MC5's Kick out the jams.

To briefly recap about the audio, Resonance station practice is to
archive the 14 or so hours of live production each day using a single
stream to a hard disk. This current configuration cannot be accessed
until the run has completed at the end of each day, which means the
indymedia newswire show can't easily be automatically offered to the
world as soon as the show has completed its live broadcast at around
1400h BST/GMT each Wednesday.

I'm hoping Salim can write us a script and zcat can offer an ftp home
for, the resultant hi-res audio file (hopefully by 1401hrs), to be
subsequently sliced and diced on the indymedia servers. That should form
an adequate basis for a podcast. Then all we need is a little server
scripting of the file conversions and an RSS script/feed (what is this?
somehow I never got it) and we can have some flyers printed and a party
to celebrate ;-)
