yes, i see resonate's point here, but i also think that people is capable
to understand that indymedia is a volunteer run project, and that funds
need to come from donations and or fundraising activities.
i think that if we organise a 'proper' party, i mean with bands, dj's,
etc... and if this party is to go on for a few hours (if not all night)
then there should be no proble in asking people for a contribution of £3
- 4 or even 5 quid at the door. i personally don't buy this
activist=always everythig for free.
c'mon, 'activisty' doens't necessarily means free, does it? .. although i
agree, it should always be as cheap and accessible to all as possible.

yup i see the point here too, and i agree that if we could run the bar,
then the door could be donations only. but if peeps decide to go for this
mudge's offer, and bar is definitelly not a possibility, then we can
always make this very clear in the party flyers, int the web site, and
email flier.
what about if with the, let's say, £5 damage at the door, people got a
free can of beer courtesy of london-imc? .. just and idea ... but maybe a
nuff one :-)
what is clear though, and i agree woith resonate again, that a
non-alcohol party not sure it would go down too well with the punters. so
probably people going to tomorrow's meeting in holloway could try to
negotiate this? ... dunno.

yes great deano can make it!, and big shout to you if you are willing to
get on coordinating this one. i can't go tomorrow either, but if people
decides to go for this party, i will be able to help out before and
during the event. i am sure we can pull more "friends and family" too
help too.
also, how much of an indy-london, or indy-uk this party should be?. I
mean, there was an email from poon (cambridge-imc) offering to help out.
possibly people from other kollectives in the neetwork may also want to
help. this is is we are quick(ish) deciding and if we announce it soon in
the network list i guess.
then, tony wrote in another mail:

the same as andi, i think it'd be better to do it the weekend after that
(saturday 4th nov) for two main reasons: a) it gives us one extra week to
get it together, and b) i'm not sure if it is wise to do it the same day
as indy-london is doing a stall in the bookfair. nit sure if we are that
able to divide in two events the human resources we seem to have.
and to finish, andi also wrote:

true, especially now thet the pre-christmas party "season" is starting
soon. people tends to do lost's of that in the run up christmas for some
reason.
it will need plenty of publicity and oiutreach to get the crowd there, so
i'd propose that after deano (and whoever else can make it tomorrow to
holloway) fedds back in this list, then we decide in next wednesday
meeting if we are definitelly going to do the party.
i mean apart from mudge's bands and PA ... we will need to decide if it
is going to be an all nighter or not, and it if is, then it will probably
need to separate rooms (if possible), some visuals, and maybe a cinema
room that proved very successful in the past two Rclaim The Future
parties indy got involved.
All in all, i think we need at least some 20 people or so on the night.
Ah! .. i forgot ... i quite like andi's FBI = Five Birthdays of
Insurrection party theme :)
this would be the pounchline to get people up there, and to link it to
the fundraising efforts for new servers, blah, blah ...
ok ... i'll shut up for a while now :-)
