Dear Friends of the Naturei Karta,
I am acting chair of Living Stones, a Christian charity existing to promote links between Christians in Britain and Christians in the Holy Land and in neighbouring countries (See Living Stones Web site at livingstonesonline.org.uk/). My good friend Father Michael Prior was, until his tragic accidental death two months ago, the chair of Living Stones and in my last telephone conversation with him the day before his death he expressed the desire to establish a forum for Jewish-Christian dialogue that did not have support of Israel as an implicit requirement (See: the penultimate paragraph of the funeral tribute on http://www.livingstonesonline.org.uk/priorAppreciation.htm)
In deference to this last wish I am taking the liberty of contacting some individuals who might be interested in promoting the kind of Jewish-Christian dialogue that is not subordinated to the interests of a political agenda in favour of the state of Israel. As I see it such a dialogue would have two main items on its agenda: exploration of beliefs and values shared by the two religions and a common endeavour to promote peace and justice in the Middle East as well as elsewhere in the world.
Although it would be unacceptable to exclude anyone from such a dialogue, I believe that initially we are looking for Jews and Christians who define themselves as religious believers and, whether or not they are anti-Zionist, at least do not equate anti-Zionism either with Christian anti-Semitism or Jewish self-hatred.
Please let me know whether you would be prepared to meet to discuss this project and if you are able to offer any help or advise on where to go from here.
