-------------
Indymedia Burma is a new Indymedia collective based in Mae Sot, Thailand
on the border with Burma. It was started by activists from many of
Burma’s
ethnic groups including Kachin, Burman, Pao, Kayan, Karen, Palaung, Mon,
Shan, Arakan and some myauk phyu (white monkey aka foreigners) who are
interested about Burma movement activities to support Burma revolution
to
get a democracy.
Now we do not have any computers so it is difficult to do our
activities.
We have limited computer access at the moment in some organisations and
internet cafes. It is impossible to go out and use computers in internet
cafes and some organisations for a long time because all Indymedia Burma
collective members are illegal in Thailand. We do not have security.
We need better access to computers to work on our site, to study
computer
skills, to do translations, to write articles, to e-mail and to edit
text,
images, video and sound. Having computers will also improve our ability
to
communicate with other Indymedia collectives and networks like Oceania.
One of our friend is traveling from Melbourne to Thailand on the 4th of
December. If it is possible to get computers before then, she can bring
them to us.
In solidarity,
Indymedia Burma Collective
