NYC Indymedia volunteer killed in Oaxaca
30/10/2006
An American Indymedia reporter has been shot and killed by
pro-government forces whilst filming on a barricade in the midst of
the uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico. Brad Will, 36, a documentary filmmaker
and reporter for Indymedia in New York, Bolivia and Brazil, died of a
gunshot to the chest when pro-government attackers opened fire on a
barricade in the neighborhood of Santa Lucia El Camino, on the
outskirts of Oaxaca, Mexico. He died with his video camera in his hands.

The city of Oaxaca has been in rebellion for months since striking
teachers took over the streets. Since then the movement has grown into
a demand that the Government and Governor of the state resign. The
people have declared the city an autonomous zone run through the
democratic assemblies of the APPO. Television and radio stations have
been seized by the people and the streets are constantly barricaded
against the threat of military and police attempts to retake the city.
People continue to be shot and killed in drive by shootings by
undercover police and other pro-government forces.

http://www.seditioncharter.org
The inclusion of a Bill of Rights in the Australian Constitution would
mean that future governments could not remove the human rights
citizens enjoy through the passage of legailsation through both houses
of Parliament...the inclusion of a Bill of Rights in the Australian
Constitution would protect the individual from the arbitrary exercise
of State power.

(3) FairWear racing carnival action
Thursday Nov. 2, 9:30am - 10:30am
Outside Federal Court, Crn William and Latrobe Street, City.
Event Topic: Anti-Corporate
Event Type: Theatre
As Melbourne gears up for the biggest race of the year, big label
companies who make the fashion on the field will face court for
breaches to the Federal Clothing Award. (Breaching the Clothing Award
means outworkers suffer real risk of exploitation - not receiving
proper wages or conditions).
JOIN US in exposing companies who disregard the rights of their
workers and outworkers and to demand that companies treat their
workers ethically.
FairWear will stage an action highlighting the names the major labels
who will be prosecuted. We will create a vibrant racing carnival with
men and women dressed up to go to the races, paper horses, champagne
and a cup outside the courthouse. In the middle of the scene, an
outworker will sit on a machine sewing away.
WE NEED: YOU and your friends, to come dressed in your colourful best
(flowers and hats, suits and dresses) as if you were going to the
races. (WE have a couple of fancy hats you can wear if you don't have
your own).
If you would like to come along, but you don't want to dress up,
please come in solidarity to hold our banner or a placard to complete
the scene.

(4) Climate Refugee Prop-Design Workshop
Friday Nov. 3, 10:00am - 4:00pm
6 Lewis Street, North Coburg
Event Topic: Migration
Event Type: Workshop
In 2001, the Australian Government flatly refused to recognise and
accept climate refugees from the Pacific, despite that they are our
neighbours and are drowing due to our lifestyles. In Australia we
continue to be one of the world's worst per capita greenhouse gas
polluters, refusing to commit to emissions reductions. With G20 coming
up, Creative Futures Collective and FoE Action collective invites you
along a prop design development workshop as part of the campaign for
recognition and acceptance of climate refugees.
You can make your creative urges and commitment to the planet and its
peoples into radical props to show the G20 elites and puppet
governments what climate justice looks like. (for more info on G20
contact rodney at foe.org.au)
This initial workshop is about coming up with a good design and ideas
for getting materials together.
Lunch provided $1 donation

The dynamics of direct action: planning and devising interruptions to
the G20 meeting in Melbourne.
To get the most out of direct actions, we must go beyond traditional
marches and rallies.
Good direct action has both symbolic and practical aspects, the best
direct actions are strategically focused and have impacts not only
upon the opponent, but upon culture and consciousness.
A one day training in nonviolent, active interventions and practical
DIY skills for activists, campaigners, autonomous affinity groups and
networks/organisations.

To coincide with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change meeting in Nairobi, Saturday November 4 will be an
international day of action on climate change!
In Australia, the Walk Against Warming is happening all over the
country and we're calling on all concerned Melbournites to get
themselves / a group / their family / their friends down to Melbourne
Town Hall at 1pm to show support for real action on climate change.
We will Walk to Birrarung Marr, where participants will be justly
rewarded with speakers, entertainment and the chance to engage more
