Francisco Ramirez, President of the Colombian Miners' Union SINTRAINERCOL
survived an assassination attempt in October, 2004. He will be speaking in
Milwaukee, December 18-20th. He lives to tell the story of the brutal
violence against unionists and the complicity of US corporations.
Billions of dollars flow to the Colombian government for a "War on Drugs".
The drug
trade is increasingly controlled by the same right-wing paramilitary
groups that are paid by US Corporations for the suppression of organized
labor.
In his new book, The Profits of Extermination: How U.S. Corporate Power is
Destroying Colombia, Ramirez details how unarmed civilians are
systematically massacred and displaced to benefit multinational
corporations. He is personally involved in legal action against US
corporations.
The main public event will be held:
1:00 pm Sunday, December 19th

633 S. Hawley Rd
Sponsored by the Milwaukee County Labor Council and United Steelworkers Union
