Cuba Coal. meets Tues., re: PFP Caravan, benefit big success, recent report
from Cuba

note event at Bucketworks re Americas!
Apologies for this very late reminder of our Cuba Coalition meeting Tuesday,
April 11, 7pm, at Milwaukee's Central United Methodist Church, 639 N. 25th
Street.

Agenda will focus on the June 24th visit of the Pastors for Peace Caravan /
Friendshipment to Cuba; recruiting interested folks to go on the trip,
collecting humanitarian supplies, and planning the welcoming and send off
event from 5pm t- 7pm at Club Timbuktu, 520 E. Center St.

We'll also report on & critique our very successful Celebration of Latin
American Music benefit yesterday at the Coffeehouse, and collect any
outstanding ticket money. (The artists were great, big turnout, preliminary
results is that we collected c. $1,000!)

And for any folks interested, two of us who just returned a few weeks ago
from a trip in Santiago de Cuba, will report back, as things are looking up
in Cuba, based significantly on its growing partnership with other nations
in Latin America, trading doctors for fuel and other resources, for example.

Finally, this is a competing event, a bit hard to describe, but some of us
may head over to Bucket works to see this one time & very creative show in
Milwaukee on economic & cultural domination and resistance in our
hemisphere, described as follows:

Who are the Bees and Why are they Swarming?

The Bees are an Artist Collective from Maine who's artwork and narrative
lectures have
won them international acclaim. They are touring North America using their
artwork to
teach about the economics of agriculture throughout South and Central
Americas. Their
huge fabric murals and giant picture flip-book simplify complex issues by
weaving an
understanding that transcends language, social status, age, race, and
educational levels...
Their subjects are complex, but their characters are all animals, plants and
insects.

Storytelling through artwork.

The Bees will present three huge murals... (16ft x 30ft). Each one more
wildly elaborate
than the next. This tour is focusing on their newest, mural, Dismantling
Monoculture...
The tale of traditional agriculture and it's industrialization.

This Tuesday at 7pm, the Beehive Design Collective comes to Bucketworks with
their
Gigantic Murals and awesome Narrative Picture Lecture. Come see the art,
stay for the
stories ... Or come for the stories and be amazed by the art! - either way
don't miss this
unique form of art and education-like nothing you've ever seen!
