40TH ANNIVERSARY OF
MILWAUKEE - 14 AND RESISTANCE TO MARQUETTE HOSTING THE MILITARY
Forty Years Ago fourteen people removed approximately 10,000 draft files from the Milwaukee’s Selective Service office and burned them with home-made napalm.
Forty Years Ago students and faculty at Marquette University asked Marquette to be faithful to the Gospel and No Longer Host Schools of Military Science.
The required selective system was ended but participation in "unjust, illegal and immoral" wars continues. The Marquette Military training program has expanded to four departments of military sciences serving students from 9 colleges and university in the metro Milwaukee Area.
PEACEFEST WILL BE BE SUNDAY, SEPT. 28TH, 3-6PM AT HENKE COURTYARD AT THE NE CORNER OF 12TH AND WISCONSIN.
There will be Speakers, Milwaukee 14 members, Students from the resistance, past and present, veterans and peace activist.
There will be Music from Harvey Taylor and friends, Jason Moon and others.
There will be displays tables of Milwaukee 14, Resistance History Pictures, Peace Action, Iraq Moratorium and other groups involved in peace and justice.
There will be a march and memorial service to honor and pray for those in the military and civilians that have been injured or died in the war in Iraq.
There will be food and drink for all, Games and Kites and other fun activities.
By coming together in Peace, remembering and celebrating, we can end this war and stop the training on campus in values and war contrary to our core American values and our Faith.
