[Imc-minneapolis-radio] NYC wants to know your plans for RNC

Hey minneapolis IMCistas

I am writing to ask if anyone from your collective is planning on coming to
NYC to cover the RNC-related protests at the end of August. If so, we're
psyched you are coming and we would just like to know more about your plans
so that we can best prepare for all the hundreds and hundreds of IMCistas
that we expect to be here.

You may already know much of what is in this email, but I wanted to reach
out to each local IMC to make sure those not on global or national lists
know what we are planning. Please forward this to whatever other local IMC
lists you have. 

In NYC there is a solid, committed group of people working overtime to
prepare a independent media newsroom that can adequately facilitate
grassroots coverage of what could quite possibly turn out to be one of the
largest protests in U.S history. We are a local coalition of grassroots
media makers coming together under the umbrella name of the NYC Grassroots
Media Coalition. Everyone is excited to welcome the Indymedia community from
out of town....it promises to be an exciting collaboration when all of us
get to be in one room together.

But in order for that to work, we need to hear from you. We are asking folks
who are planning to come to register *TODAY* or as early as you can. We have
set up a secure website (built by our close friends at 2600) that can
process your registration.

There are three very important reasons why we need you to help us out by
registering early:

1. we need to gage how many people to expect and what projects they plan to
work on so that we can adequately try to equip our space with the right
facilities. 
2. we need to know what equipment you will bring that can be shared by
others and what equipment you would like us to try to provide.
3. We need cash in hand in order to put down a deposit on a large enough
space for us all to work out of. An accessible space in NYC is extremely
expensive. We are holding benefits, doing direct mailings, etc, but so far,
we don¹t have nearly enough. So we are counting on everyone who plans to
participate to chip in, but we need that to happen fast.

Registration is $30. It might be more at the door if we don¹t get enough
funds in and have to pay people back. So, if you plan to join in on the fun,
save yourself some money, and give us a huge helping hand in the process by
registering today.

P.s. If you can afford it, please donate extra. We are setting up a
"scholarship" and sliding scale system for (primarily) youth groups of
color. Hosting a local benefit would be great too and its also a great way
to subsidize your local contingent.
