[imc-northern] authoritarian organisations on northern indymedia

Hey,

We touched on this briefly at Sunday's meeting but I want to know what
people on this list who didn't come to the meeting think.

The Revolutionary Communist Group (RCG) have set up 2 'groups' under the
names of their front campaigns FRFI and RATB as well as posting several
events on the newswire.

I think we need to discuss whether they should have a presence on the
site because one of the editorial guidelines we agreed on was that
oppressive organisations shoudln't be able to use it. People might have
different opinions about whether RCG is an oppressive organisation, but
they are undoubtedly authoritarian and statist with a centralist control
agenda. Some might say they have a parasitic relationship with
libertarian autonomist groups. Some might say their fetishisation of
industrial workerism is as much of a threat to the planet as capitalism
is; I'm unsure.

I'm uncomfortable with RCG using Indymedia as a vehicle for its
recruitment campaigns because I don't think that's compatible with
either our principles of unity or my personal motivations for
volunteering with this project; on the other hand I think that anyone
who wants to organise against racism, zionism and imperialism should be
able to use Indymedia to announce/report such initiatives.

What do others think we should do about this?
