we are going to start networking a text a bit like this soon in manchester

but before doing it - i was wondering if anyone from the network could do
some kind of security check on the drupal site ive set up - as i'm not
very good with this sort of thing.

Manchester Indymedia is moving to a new way of working.

You may have noticed that the middle column of Manchester Indymedia hasn't
been very frequently updated.  However there are active groups and
alternative media outlets in the area and we want to make sure that
Manchester Indymedia reflects this. Also a lot of websites do great things
with multi-media and we also want to change with the times.

We've been working on a website which pulls in news and media from other
groups and displays them on our site. The idea is that people that come to
Manchester Indymedia's pages, see a summary of some news and then visit
the news in the place where it was originally published. We're also
teaming up with Northern Indymedia and asking you to publish your news on
their site. In this way you can upload pictures, video and audio in a much
more flexible ways.

We'll be moving to the site which is listed here.
http://manchesternew.indymedia.org.uk sometime in September. (this needs
to be set up to point at http://mindymedia.clearerchannel.org).

We're not the first group to do this. London and Nottingham have made
similar moves. The next stage of the Indymedia journey is a new UK site
where all content of the regional collectives is pulled together in one
site. Watch this space for more news.
