this is an example of the way, we might infuture, be able to stick up
features on nottm and the uk's features section ......

Hi Tash,
I'm really sorry can't find the time to put a uk traveller feat together.
If you could write it yourself, it's much more likely that sometime just
puts it up - needs less time and effort, you know what it's like. Use
the london feature if you like. but what i like about your postings is
that you bring together romani travellers and well, new age travellers,
is that the right name? I think thats a story in itself.
A feature usually consists of
- a headline. not too long, expressing what the feature is about.
- an image.
- an abstract of around 50 to 100 words, basically a blurb that allows
to display the most important links on the frontpage, so that people can
browse on about the subject. As a rule of thumb, we try to include 2
indymedia links and some outside links.
- the content, which is not displayed on the frontpage, but appears when
you press the "read on" button at the end of each feature. The content
can be as long as you like, with additional links, pics, etc.
The features have some basic html, i.e. tags for links and linebreaks. I
guess you are familiar with them, if not someone can show you... I
usually write down everything i find important first, then condense it
into a summary for the abstract.
btw, your pics are much appreciated!
Good luck with it (and also with indymedia nottingham :-)

Subject: Proposal: traveller pieces
Hi all,
I'd like to pick up tash's suggestion and propose a uk mid column feature
about travellers.
ustiben, maybe you could post a nice text about the planned rally u
mentioned on the newswire, with enough info so that pp know what it is all
about? Then post the link here, to the imc uk features list?
has anyone time to adapt the existing london feature to a uk feature?
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/london/2005/04/308868.html
it was just written for a london audience. maybe the title for a uk piece
could refer to resisting repressive traveller laws or similar.
This was mt proposal for more links to go under a traveller section in the
features colum.
Sofar London IMC did this, but being about Nottm, Bristol and the West
Country, and travellers in general I thought the UK features under
travellers would be most appropriate.
Yet another attempt at anti-traveller law, on the horizon
http://indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/308604.html
this is about current, new law proposals now; Ten Minute Rule Bill titled:
"Equal Enforcement of the Law"
&
Anniversary of the 'Battle of the Beanfield': an exhibition 'Operation
Solstice'
http://indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/308800.html
this is a) the anniversay, but 2) an explaination of the way we have got to
where we are, with respect to the law changes affectiing us.
but also recently on indymedia, I've made these postings about No Border,
asylum, etc ..... which of coure Gypsy / travellers are involved in the
debate: Check out:
Tash Post - UK Indymedia 2005 Occupation at Labour Party Offices for East
Midlands
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/308040.html
&
Tash Post - UK Indymedia 2005 Nottingham 'Noisy' Demo- Rights for migrants
and asylum seekers
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/308207.html
thanks again
