[Imc-nottingham] minutes IMC meeting april 26th

Hi all,

Here's the minutes attached and under here as plain text. One important
point that we've forgotten to mention; a lecturer from media studies at
Trent Uni has contacted us last week asking us to come and do a talk at
Trent Uni about why independent media and what we want to do etc. In the
next few weeks if possible. Now, we've got a film about indymedia and we
just need to sit down with some people to discuss this before the next
meeting. We will get money for doing this, so that's excellent! Anyone
interested, please get back in touch.

Minutes Nottinghamshire IMC meeting Tuesday 26th April

Next Meeting;

Nottinghamshire IMC Meeting; Wed. 11th May, 7.30pm at the Sumac.

Working Groups meetings;

Publicity/Outreach - Thursday 28th April. 7.30pm at Sumac Centre
Process group - Tuesday 3rd May. 7pm at Sumac Centre
Technical - Wednesday 4th May. 7.30pm at Sumac Centre
Radio - Wednesday May 4th, 4pm, 65 Foxhall Road

Feedback working groups;

-Funding – A letter was sent around on the list to be used to write to
possible funders. This letter will be finalised and used besides a funding
appeal for the outreach work. People are looking into setting up a bank
account soon. Apparently £10 has already been donated online.

The funding group has requested every working group to come up with a
breakdown of the estimated cost etc, to try and come to an estimate aim
for initial and running cost of the IMC.

-Process – A mission statement and Editorial Policy has been drafted, read
out, changed and approved. Latest versions to be posted to the list later.
See meetings section for next process group meeting.

-Tech – The technical group is to come up with the pros and cons of the
independent/sub UK issue to be taken to the next meeting so that a
collective wide decision can be taken on the issue. Technical group has
started working on the setting up of a development server, which will
hopefully be up and running in about a fortnight.

-Content – No one from the content group attended. To work on content to
launch later on.

Timescale

It was felt that before we could set out a timescale we should identify
all that is needed for us to feel we are ready to launch the IMC. Various
groups and people would work on various aspects and feed that back into
the next meeting. Things to work on before launching the IMC:

-Decision Independent/Sub UK IMC [worked on by tech group]
-Publicity/Outreach [worked on by publ/outreach working group, see meetings]
-Training [worked on by tech group]
-People [?]
-Capital/Running Cost [funding group]
-Processes [worked on by process group, see meetings]
-Content to launch [for later]
-Locations [worked on by people, get in touch about details meeting]
-Funding/Treasurer/Bank account [funding group]
-Overall IMC and Projects [worked on by publ/outreach working group, see
meetings]

Funding policy

We agreed on; ‘we can accept money from anyone if it comes with no strings
attached although funds coming from organisations that due to their nature
raises questions within for example our ed guidelines or principles is to
be decided by an overall IMC meeting’.

Radio

A community radio station is being set up. Get involved by coming to its
first meeting on Wednesday May 4th, 4pm, 65 Foxhall Road.
