Hello Audiocistas, and especially cyberpunk ben,
here is a forwarded note from Brandon (video) who is organizing a huge
fundraiser/screening/music on the 14th. Ben did sound for the fundraiser to send
folks down to the ftaa in Miami, and now "the Miami Model" will be screened to
raise funds for the rnc coverage.
peace all! rock on,
There is a lot going in video and we need money to finance. So, we
need to have a big fundraiser. Zadi, Papo, and Rine are doing great
work with the fundraisers on the 4th and 8th, despite the scheduling
problems. So, we should publicize these events and also work on at
least one other big fundraiser.
On that note, we have a very large space call Volume (www.volume.tv)
reserved for Saturday, August 14th. The space will hold 800
people. Early, we plan to screen the Miami Model, the documentary
by the FTAA IMC. I do not think that this alone can fill up the
space. The best idea is to book some bands and DJs for a huge
after party. This event will happen following a large block party
in Williamsburg called the (Neo)Coney Island Block Party
(http://notanalternative.net/events.html). We should be able to
draw some of that crowd and some other people. I have already
booked one act, DJ No Skilz from DC and I am looking for other
suggestions. I have contacted one of the DJs from Def Jux
(http://definitivejux.net) and am trying to contact Antibalas. One
of the big issues will be sound. We need to find a good sound
engineer to donate time and equipment. The space is large and the
club owners are picky about sound, so we need a good person and need
to do some early set-up.
I know that this is a huge task and that we are already
over-extended, but if we play our cards right, we could raise a
large amount of money for the RNC.
