Hey,

Is this a new way of handling hidden articles?

Not sure if this means to copy sf.indymedia.org's style, but if so, I'm
not a fan of that. I propose doing it as in index.02, where instead of a
dropdown, 4 random links to imc's per continent are listed, with a
'more...' links to a page listing out all the imc network links. This is
not a big deal for me to code, as the javascript drawing the city links
from the xml cities list has been done by sf.

The dropdown style javascript isn't accessible by all browsers, at least
in a way that presents well, as far as I know. Also, it pushes down the
nav links below it.

Also, I agree with this critique of dynamic menus, that argues that users
decide first and click second, negating usefulness of dropdown menus:

http://www.uie.com/articles/users_decide_first/

Dropdowns like a list of u.s. states when filling out a form makes sense,
I think, because a user is expecting states, because they're familiar
with the 50 states, there is usually prompt text, and registration forms
and such tend to follow a standard display (e.g., name, address, city,
etc.).

But I don't think dropdowns for navigation work really well. There's
another good article on this, but can't find it at the moment.
