[IMC-NYC] NYC-IMC Meeting Minutes- EMERGENCY! IMPORTANT!

General meeting minutes :: SPACE
Wed. Sept. 14th 2005
Attendees: Chris, Patrick, Rine, Arun, Mike, Ana, John

POINT OF THE MEETING:  The NYC-IMC will soon be homeless- within eleven weeks. 
Therefore, finding a new space needs to take priority over everything!  Our
landlord Jinny has chosen NOT to renew our lease.

There will be a MANDATORY working-group wide collective meeting on Tuesday,
September 27th, at 7:00.  Please come caffeinated and ready to brainstorm.

THE IDEAL NEW SPACE....
	800-1000 square feet of space
	Sub-office space (which can be built) so that our office space tenant Eric can
also move with us and continue to financially contribute to rent
	Bathroom
	Rent- around $1000 per month, or 30-40% of what market value should be for
commercial space
    Residential space is not ruled out
	A Manhattan location is ideal, since most people pass through/ work/ school in
Manhattan on a regular basis, but we won't refuse a great space in another
borough if we can't find anything
   24 hour access
   Local cheap bar equivalent or shittier than Desmond's

CHRIS HAS VOLUNTEERED TO START CALLING, BUT NEEDS CONTACTS

contact), brecht, UFJP, Lenny, DN, time’s up...  please email him any and all
contacts & ideas.

HOW WILL WE RAISE MONEY?
   We owe Emmanuel about $8,000 in back rent.  He has paid over $100,000 in rent
for us during our stay at 29th street.
   We will need 3-4,000 to move (which includes renting a truck, dump fees for
our unnecessary furniture, 1st, last, and security on a new place)

Captial campaign:
-Selling IMC videos
-Fund appeals twice a year on the website- spring, fall before the holidays,
donations on website, tech needs to talk to Castleman
-RNC fundraising list
-Phone solicitation?
-Finding rich radicals to sponsor us
-Open a coffee bar/ IMC

	Finance plan
	Interim plan
    Worst case scenario: decentralized meetings of different working groups


WISHFUL THINKING: There is a gorgeous big commercial storefront that is $3000
per month in the East Village.  If for some reason we come across a huge sum of
money it had really giant beautiful windows and is amazing looking. It's through
a realtor and the # is 212-219-3944.  61 east 3rd street between 2nd and 3rd.
