This could affect PIRGs right across the province, or country.

OPIRG-Carleton is in trouble.

The Carleton administration is threatening eviction and an immediate
halt to OPIRG-Carleton activities on campus as soon as 29 Oct. 2004.

The administration has been demanding for several weeks that the PIRG
secure an extraordinary five million dollar insurance policy.

Much effort has been put into obtaining insurance for over a year. No
insurance company will touch OPIRG-Carleton due to its commitment to
environmental and human rights issues. For real. These are the
reasons they give.

So far, the administration has not agreed to compromise. Either five
million in coverage or get out.

OPIRG Kingston just lost their insurance coverage last week. Looks
like there?s a new gang of thugs called in to shut down alternative
community outposts.

We are asking for community support.
