  PEACE FOR ANIMALS DAY IN OXFORD
   
   
  On Saturday April 28th there will be a “Peace for Animals” event in Oxford city centre. “Peace for Animals” is a new group and this will be its first organised event.  It will be a day of reflection, meditation and prayers for all those caught up in the ever- spiralling circle of violence ravaging the world.  
   
  We are all animals and this event is simply a desire to bring about peace for all of us.  Human beings have a knack for complicating the simplest of things – but we will try to endeavour to keep our message concise and clear – peace.
   
  We meet at 12 noon outside St. Michaels church in Oxford City centre as Joan Court , an 88 year old veteran campaigner for peace and justice, ends her 48 hour fast for Felix (a monkey undergoing experimentation inside Oxford University).  Oxford has been chosen as location for our first event because it has come to be seen as a focal point of conflict in the controversial area of animal experimentation.  This day will be dedicated to reflection upon the whole area of our relationship with other species and with each other!
   
  We will begin with some speeches followed by a period of meditation/ reflection/ prayers and then a silent walk through the city centre ending up outside the site for the proposed new animal laboratory in South Parks Rd, where again we will have some space for silent reflection.   
   
  By its very nature we do not envisage the day to produce dramatic scenes of conflict in the streets of Oxford but that is not to say that it will not be a breeding ground for revolution – peace for all of us – is the revolution we will be engaged in.
