This is an invite to join the mailing list for our new movie, "The
Age Of Stupid". Formerly know as "Crude", it's a modest little
documentary starring five people in five countries, along with two
animated teenagers living in the runaway climate change world of
2055. Two teenagers who are having trouble understanding why we
didn't stop climate change while we had the chance.
Sorry if you've got this message more than once or have no idea who
we are or wish you'd never met us. This'll be the one and only cold
call message, promise.

--- WANTED: FINAL CASH FOR "THE AGE OF STUPID"
Formerly know as "Crude", "The Age Of Stupid" is the new cinema
documentary from the Director of "McLibel" and the Producer of the
Oscar-winning "One Day In September".
Set in the runaway climate change world of 2055, this fast, furious &
very funny film follows two animated teenagers looking back at
"archive" documentary footage from 2007, asking: why didn't they stop
climate change while they had the chance?
The film is utterly independent. Mostly to give it the best chance of
reaching a mainstream multiplex audience, but also to avoid having TV
execs telling us to tone it down. All of Director Franny Armstrong's
films have been made outside the system, yet they've sold to
mainstream TV & cinema and been watched by more than 53 million
people worldwide. McLibel was just featured as one of only two UK
films in the BFI's "Ten Documentaries Which Changed The World"
series. (The other being no less than Michael Buerk's Ethiopia famine
report, which led to Live Aid.)
The first 250,000 pounds of Stupid's budget was raised in 2004/5 by
selling "shares" to people who care about climate change. The
investors all own a percentage of the film - as do the crew, who are
working for massively reduced rates. If the film takes as much money
as Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911" - the biggest doc of all time,
but still - an initial 500 quid investment would recoup about 60,000
quid.... but if it takes as much as Franny's film "Drowned Out",
it'll repay a grand total of 50. You get the warm fuzzy feeling
either way.
The current status is that we've completed all the documentary
filming - 247 hours shot in New Orleans, India, the Alps, the Niger
Delta and Cornwall - composed the orchestral score, written the
drama script, storyboarded the animation and edited a 90 minute rough
cut. We're aiming to launch at the Sundance Film Festival (without
flying there) in Feb 2008, followed by international cinema release
that Spring. So now we're onto casting the child actors, hiring a
greenscreen studio, designing a future computer, finding a friendly
orchestra and buying all the coffee in London for the animation boys.
But first the small matter of raising the final 200K.
So roll up, roll up. Minimum investment 2.5K. Donations also most welcome.

There will be a screening of the (very) rough cut at a central London
cinema (donated for free to support the film) at 10am on Saturday 8th
