A couple of things about the calendar.  You're right that it needs to be input by an admin.  The unmoderated calendar does not actually go through to the oxford site.  Also, we have a two-week maximum before the event date, to stop the calendar getting clogged up.  It's a good idea to write more detail as a news item, which is open publishing, then the moderators will pick it up as an event that needs to go into the calendar.
