I've now done the final extra things as well.
New version of site is here:
http://owen.dev.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/oxford/
Latest changes:
-changes to calendar system
Calendar no longer holds up the rest of the page from loading, and is
hosted on ox4.org rather than theoarc.org.uk. A small bug to do with old
events not always disappearing has also been fixed.
-feedback form
A link on the frontpage leads to a feedback form on ox4. I'd like opinions
from people on the questions, and question explanations (currently
satirical).
-get OxIMC rss feeds to reference OxIMC urls, not UKIMC ones.
We need to propose this as a Mir-wide change, because it makes sense in
the coding to apply it to all regions. Can't see it being controversial. I
will go ahead and propose it tonight, with a deadline of a week so it
doesn't delay our changes being rolled out.
-possible improvement to black line under features: getting it to not
appear on the very last one..
Done.
-other stuff
---Made the publish button normal case, instead of all uppercase (now that
the text is bigger, no need to shout).
---Tweaked background colour of publish button.
---Tweaked search box to make it fit on one line.
---Switched search provider from google to scroogle, and made it index the
oxford part of the site specifically, not the whole UK site.
---Added an option to the admin interface to generate the oxford
startpage, so that we don't have to generate *all* regional startpages
just to update our own (so it now takes 5s instead of 50s).
First set of changes was:
> -padding on article content
> -bigger publish button
> -link underlining and line-height
> -getting rid of 'action' topics
> -black line between features
So we're pretty much ready to go. The deadline for any emailed objections
(or suggestions for extra changes) will be Wed 6th Oct (the next meeting).
Then we'll also run it past the meeting itself, and if everybody's happy,
I'll then ask a UK techy to make the changes live.
