My view is that minor tech improvements like this can just be done and
announced. I can't think of any reason anyone might object; and if they
should object, it can easily be reversed. I don't think this kind of
work really needs a consensus; all it requires is a common-sensus, if I
might put it that way.

It's a bit like asking for a consensus that the carpet in OARC should be
vacuumed. Only people who've inspected it recently are in a position to
judge; but if someone thinks it's a good idea, it probably is.
