[IMC-Palestine] [www-features] proposed feature: Gaza invasion

hi www-features, imc-beirut, imc-palestine and others in the region

jenka posted a proposal to www-features but did not send it to the
imc-palestine mailing list nor to imc-beirut either.

i've worked on this proposal a bit to put it in html features format,
and to include more diverse grassroots sources of information.

In principle, a www-features deadline is 6 hours. The situation is
urgent and jenka posted this yesterday, so we're well after the
deadline.  Nobody has requested any changes so far, so i'm posting it,
especially because of the urgency - AFAIR this is probably the first
time that a military attack occurs against a country in which an 
already existing, stable IMC exists (Lebanon/Beirut).

So i'm cc-ing to the regional imc's so that you know it has been
posted and who proposed it.

If you are able to coordinate together, then i would suggest you (from
Beirut + Cyprus + Israel + imc-palestine + IMEMC) work together and
propose a *new* global feature, taking the time to integrate a
regional consensus (e.g. solidarity between israeli and beirut and
cyprus and palestinian activists all opposing the attacks?).  Please
remember that many people in Palestine expressed interest in creating
IMC Palestine, but then after the mailing list was created, people
suddenly become busy (understandable given the situation) and nothing
more happened.  i'm not the person who is going to help you in the
region work together to propose global features.  (After all, in the
region where i live we haven't proposed any regional features on
global AFAIR...)  Any of you may subscribe to www-features in order to
quickly become aware of proposals to www-features, or maybe you could
all join the imc-palestine mailing list (since it doesn't seem to be
in use much at the moment) and then just communicate and coordinate 
on that list? Just some ideas...

ABSTRACT:
 Nabil Abu Salmiya, his wife Salwa, both 39, and their seven
children: Nasrallah, Basima, 16, Sumayya, 12, Huda, 8, Eman, 11, Aya,
7, and Yahia, 13 are the latest casualties in the ongoing Israeli
invasion into the Palestinian Gaza Strip, <a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19958&Itemid=1">killed
in an Israeli airstrike on their home Wednesday morning</a> the 12th
of July. Israeli officials said the two missiles were meant to hit a
leader of the Hamas resistance movement, but of the 9 killed and 38
injured, none are affiliated with any resistance group, and most of
the casualties are children. Some Israeli military are <a
href="https://israel.indymedia.org/newswire/display/4800/index.php">uncomfortable
with this mass murder</a> and at Olmert's refusal to negotiate.
Israel is <a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19948&Itemid=1">suspected
of using chemical weapons</a> in the attacks.

The Abu Salmiya family is the second to be massacred by Israeli air
strikes in the last few days, with a <a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19868&Itemid=0">similar
strike on Saturday which killed Amna Hajjaj and her two children</a>
and seriously injured five other family members, including Amna's
brother, who lost both his arms. And three teens were <a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19929&Itemid=1">killed
by a missile Monday while playing football</a> in Beit Hanoun.

<a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19951&Itemid=0">Four
people have died at the Rafah border crossing</a> from Egypt,
including a baby, two teenagers who were returning from medical
treatment in Egypt, and an elderly man. 5,000 Palestinians are
currently stranded in the desert heat of the border, unable to return
home to Gaza as Israeli authorities keep the border closed. The whole
of Gaza remains in a blackout after Israeli forces blew up all of
Gaza's electric power plants, as well as bridges, <a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19983">aid
projects</a> and government buildings.

In the north of Israel, <a
href="http://www.imemc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19978&Itemid=1">Hezbollah
fighters captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight Wednesday July
12</a>, and Israeli forces
<a href="http://beirut.indymedia.org/ar/2006/07/4511.shtml">invaded Lebanon</a>
for the first time since 2000.
